Kathryn Brooks
Chair
Kathryn is a psychology graduate and qualified social worker with over 25 years’ experience working with people in adversity. She has worked as a volunteer, a practitioner, manager and senior manager across a range of settings, and in England, Scotland and Wales
Kathryn joined SHARP as a trustee in November 2018 due to a belief that everyone should have somewhere safe to live and the support they need to life full lives. She became chair of the board in July 2020

Karen Perry
Trustee
A qualified social worker, Karen has always been in roles supporting vulnerable people, mostly children, but also people of all ages living with mental ill health. Having been a senior manager in a local authority and an NHS organisation she is focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable people
She became a SHARP trustee in 2019 with the belief that safe, affordable accommodation is a basic right without which it is impossible for individuals to thrive
Karen also volunteered as an Adviser for Citizens Advice, to reconnect directly with people facing debt, housing, relationship and employment problems

Roland Watkins
Trustee (Retired)
Roland worked for SHELTER in Oldbury and helped to set up SHARP. He originally thought the problem of homelessness was the lack of housing but came to realise that this is combined with governments’ educational & welfare policies. The result is the current crisis
There are increasing numbers of people begging, relying on food banks, children growing up in B&Bs and others dying of mould spores. While he cannot personally change policies or build new homes, Roland feels he can help to provide support and somewhere to live for those who are victims of the kind of society in which we live.

HoJan Senya
Trustee
HoJan is a clinical trials pharmacist with experience in the NHS and research across Europe, West Africa, and the UK
Recently, she worked as a clinical lead in NHS England’s national digital transformation team, during which she developed a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing health, particularly those outside healthcare itself. She has a keen interest in education and housing
In September 2024, HoJan joined the SHARP board as a trustee, dedicating her time, skills, and energy to ensuring the charity’s beneficiaries are well supported while also considering the interests of its employees

Fayad Husain
Trustee
Fayad has over 20 years’ experience in the premium automotive industry, primarily focused on Product Strategy and the definition of future cars, for iconic British brands
He was excited to have been accepted as a trustee to the SHARP board in September 2024 and is looking to use his knowledge of modern business practices including strategy development and governance to contribute usefully to the future of this invaluable organisation
